What’s new at Phil’s Old Radios

Flooring materials installed in the basement are vulnerable to the damp, humid, environment of the below-grade space of your home. During the summer, I purchased a new 21AMP5 picture tube for my Philco Miss America TV and installed it, greatly improving the picture. The 1958 Philco Miss America console was a 2011 Valentine’s Day gift for my wife. In December, 2012, I finished the lengthy restoration of an Admiral 24C15 console TV. In July, 2012, I wrote a new article, First Steps In Restoration, to cover some additional frequently asked questions. I also wrote a new article about another long-owned item, the Philco Mystery Control, the first wireless radio remote. I also wrote brief articles about my Panasonic TR-1030P handheld TV and HP 200CD audio generator. Recent finds include a Panasonic Travelvision, Sony Watchman, Epson Elf, and Sony FDL-22. In September, 2011, I restored a 1961 Sony 8-301W, an early transistor TV that I had bought about a year earlier. In this article, Craig describes in detail how he built a Theremin following the plans originally published in the July, 1961 issue of Electronics Illustrated. Another article describes how I set up a home TV transmitter to broadcast analog television throughout our house addition contractors near me.

The first describes the restoration of my 1939 GE F-63 tabletop radio. There will likely be light sanding after the first coat of sealer is dry. I have also been chipping away at my CTC-4 restoration; that article will be updated when I have some good news to report. Expanding on January’s catching-up theme, I restored the electronics on a radio I had owned for about twenty years, my RCA 8-X-541 Bakelite tabletop, and updated its article with restoration notes and new photos. I acquired several other radios over the summer as well, including some Bakelite sets and an exciting Sonora Globe. My 2011 summer projects included a rarely-seen 10-inch console television, the 1948 Capehart-Farnsworth 661-P. Still a work in progress is an earlier 10-inch console, the RCA 721TCS; watch for updates to that article after the cabinet is refinished. For example, if the finished basement is intended to be a family room, then it may require a larger space, comfortable seating, and entertainment options like a TV or game console.

As a result, remodeling a basement runs somewhat higher than finishing a basement. A basement finishing project involves upgrading a basement area that is not currently habitable, because it lacks such things as drywall, insulation, plumbing and finished flooring. It is claimed that basements are one of the most un-utilized parts of the house, that is the reason why many people are seeking basement refinishing. This is the earlier, tube version of the KLH Model Twenty One and I have been seeking one for a long time. At HomePro Remodelers, one of our specialties is installing beautiful and functional outdoor living additions that help homeowners make the most of their outdoor space. However attaining the additional living area is often valuable enough to guarantee the effort. You can create a new living space, a theater room, a wet bar, a home workout space and more! We arrive home emotionally exhausted.

For added peace of mind, we even offer a two-year labor warranty in addition to passing along exceptional manufacturer warranties, providing secure protection for your home improvement investment. In mid-February I added two new articles. The last two are color LCD sets. Here are some things to consider and ask your construction provider about. While moving things around for a remodeling project, I also came across my Phono Trix Model 2, a charming early portable tape recorder from Germany. During much of this year, my workshop was packed up during an extensive remodeling project, but I slowly got back into the swing of things. The biggest difference is that the line of credit is open, or revolving, and is usually accompanied by a variable interest rate – somewhat like a credit card: You can borrow against it and pay it back, and then borrow against it again (up to your limit) A HELOC can be a perfect solution for a large project, such as refinishing a basement, where costs may not be set in stone. Remodeling a basement costs more than refinishing a basement because there’s more involved in a remodel. I delayed the refinishing work for a long time, but finally got refurbished cabinets for my RCA CTC-11, a color roundie, and the black and white DuMont RA-103.
