A man-made saltmarsh on the banks of the Cooks River was built as part of the waterplay park’s construction. It helps enhance water quality in the Cooks River, filtering nutrients and run-off. A sailing boat continues the water theme, but with no fear of the children getting wet. Children of all ages love waterplay! It’s safe, creative and fun for all ages. It’s made of a somewhat unusual mix of gravel and red ash called ‘redgra’ – an early example of an innovative all-weather material for pitches, that was developed in the early 1960s, but which has now been replaced with synthetic pitches almost everywhere else in the country.
